How To Pick A Perfect Bouquet

If it’s time to pick your beautiful flowers then you’ll probably need a helping hand. The best advice any bride can have is to choose seasonal flowers. Why? To guarantee quality and affordability.  Experts at Philosophy Flowers offer us some top tips for seasonal bouquets.

Our main tip for all seasons:

  • Winter Bouquet – for 2011 the bridal trend is creating a frosted winter wonderland using white flowers and muted green foliage for a handtie. Use flowers such as rununculus, avalanche roses, anemone and foliage such as dusty miller, lavender and herbs (rosemary and sage). For the more contemporary bride creating a simple shower bouquet of white phalaenopsis orchids is popular. Some brides are opting for an opulent rich berry and purple colour. Again, handties of winter tulips, eustoma and freesias in dark purple mixed with white flowers as mentioned above with dark foliage create this sumptuous theme.
  • Autumn Bouquet – stepping away from the ‘vintage’ theme, the earthy/autumnal tones are back on trend. Handtie bouquets consisting of yellow or orange cymbidium orchids, cala lilies with rosehip berries and autumnal foliage.
  • Spring & Summer Bouquet – this is possibly one of the best seasons to choose to get married from a floral point of view as the choice of seasonal flowers is fabulous. The vintage shabby chic trend is still around for the time being and brides are opting for the ‘just picked’ pastel pinks, blues and whites. Handtie of tulips, ranunculus, freesia, hyacinths, stocks and sweet william with a mix of dark green and muted toned foliage looks absolutely beautiful. However, a more classic trend is on the horizon and brides are wanting to ‘make like Kate’ and have an understated slimline handtie of lily of the valley. If the budget won’t stretch to lily of the valley then a more affordable handtie of stephanotis can be an option and still create the classic look.
