A replica of Windsor Castle has been made out of LEGO in honour of the royal wedding, and it looks pretty darn majestic. Now would be a great time to start singing “Everything is Awesome”.

St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle will see the wedding of the year on May the 19th 2018 when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot. In honour of the much-anticipated upcoming royal wedding, LegoLand Windsor have unveiled a fantastic LEGO model of the couple’s wedding venue in the form of a 39,960-brick-replica of the historic castle.

It took a team of eight model makers 592 hours to complete and comes with LEGO versions of the bride and groom (Meghan Markle and Prince Harry themselves) the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of Cambridge (i.e. the best man) and the Duchess of Cambridge with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, and Meghan’s parents.

Furthermore, they are joined by a crowd of 500 more LEGO figures (media and guests including quite a few celebrities like Sir Elton John and the Spice Girls) built from 17,000 LEGO bricks.

Can you imagine if they all came to life, Small Soldiers or Toy Story style?
The impressive LEGO model also features a gorgeous Ascot Landau carriage (built from 1,500 LEGO bricks) pulled by two beautiful 200-brick white horses to recreate the wedding procession. Just look at the detail! Have you seen the top hats? The touch of gold on top of the lamppost? Wow!

The scene in its entirety is made up of almost 60,000 LEGO bricks and took 11 Model Makers 752 hours to build.
Paula Laughton, Head Model Maker at LegoLand Windsor, has said: “With the royal wedding happening just down the road, it felt only right to celebrate their special day with a new royal scene and it was a real thrill to be able immortalise our local castle in LEGO bricks for the first time ever.”

The model is located in LegoLand’s Windsor Resort (not far from the actual Windsor Castle, which in itself is a stunning tourist attraction) and you can visit the scene until November. You may not be invited to the real wedding but you can certainly turn up to this one!
“We can’t wait to see our guests’ reaction to the royal tribute and our magnificent new Windsor Castle,” said Paula.
