News today from Kensington Palace has revealed that Meghan Markle has asked HRH Prince Charles to walk her down the aisle at her wedding to Prince Harry tomorrow.
The news comes after it was revealed that Ms Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, is now unable to attend the wedding due to ill-health.
It was widely believed that Meghan’s mother, who is accompanying her to the wedding in the royal carriage, would walk her daughter down the aisle, but Kensington Palace confirmed today that the bride has asked her father-in-law-to-be to do the honours.
Whilst we’d have loved to see a royal bride walked down the aisle by her mother, we think it’s a really lovely gesture that Meghan has asked Prince Charles – and as he has no daughters himself, it’s great that he gets a chance to do something like this.
