“2011 will see a celebration of the kind of dress little girls dream about getting married in. Big ball gowns and long cathedral trains, lots of flower embellishments, ruffles and sparkle. This year, I think we will see brides indulge in the Romantic Fairytale Wedding they have always dreamed of, and that includes a big dress!” Ian Stuart, Bridal Designer of The Year 2010
“2011 is set to be an exciting year seeing a noticeable shift in key bridal trends from the previous few years, with collections showing heavy influences from the 1920’s, 1930’s and 1950’s. Brides will have much more versatility with their look, being able to choose from a myriad of styles from slinky, glamorous gowns to beautiful ball-gowns. There will be a distinctive move away from strapless gowns (although they will remain popular teamed with jackets and stoles) and styling will be more classic and elegant with an emphasis on an excellent cut and intricate detailing.” Natalie Gladman, MD Madeline Isaac James
HOW TO ACHIEVE THE VINTAGE LOOK
“It’s all about British style what with the Royal wedding pending. From Ritva Westenius to Sassi Holford and more contemporary designers such as Temperley. I’m also dying to see what my favourite designer Oscar de la Renta comes up with in his Spring collection.” Celebrity Wedding Planner, Mark Niemierko
