If you’re thinking of going on honeymoon in Bali, we’d like to let you in on a little secret – the Hoshinoya Bali resort.
With 30 traditional Balinese villas dotted around the resort, the premises has the feel of an intimate island retreat -if you’re looking for the perfect private getaway, look no further.
When we arrived at our villa we were amazed by the little touches that were waiting in the room; from a large wicker tote bag which you’re allowed to keep (super stylish), to bath and hair products, to full-sized bottle of insect repellent all the little luxuries have been thought of.
The room is equipped with high tech lighting which is fully controllable through a panel next to the bar, by the bed or down by the pool, so you hardly have to lift a finger.
The room also has a Bose surround speaker which can be controlled via their complimentary Wi-Fi or Bluetooth; great if you want a relaxing evening with music playing in the background.
When it comes to food, you’re spoilt for choice.
The resort offers a range of delicious traditional Indonesian foods that can be fitted to your needs in different locations, including the spacious open-air restaurant.
The set menu of 10 dishes (yes we said it, 10dishes) is highly recommended; our favorite dish from the 1o courses was the Wagyu Beef Tenderloin Steak with three kinds of Balinese sauces, but we can’t complain about the other nine dishes because they were all simply amazing.
Privacy is key at Hoshinoya, which is ideal when you want to luxuriate with your brand new husband or wife.
The resort has plenty of beautiful secluded spots for stolen moments such as the seven gazebos that offer amazing views over the valley. Hoshinoya Bali is ideal for making special memories and its fantastically romantic atmosphere will bring you and your loved one closer than ever after your special day.
You don’t even need to leave your villa if you want to go for an afternoon swim, because there’s private access from each villa to one of the three pools located around the resort, meaning you can slip from lounging in the sun on the terrace to relaxing in the water.
The unique canal-esque pool system at the resort is renowned internationally and was featured in our round up of the best swimming pools in the world.
Accessed from your pool deck, you can slip into the water in complete privacy as you can’t be seen by other villas that are connected to the pool; once you’re done with your relaxing swim you can step out of the pool back onto your deck, where you’re presented with a private shower with pool towels located outside. We simply loved the vibe of the pool and would rate it 10/10.
When you’ve had enough of switching between the pool and your villa, the spa is an absolute must.
We tried the two-hour Spicy Body Revitalizing treatment, which involved a full back and leg massage, body scrub and body wrap. Once this was done, you head to a private room containing a huge bath where we luxuriated for 20 minutes.
This wasn’t any ordinary private bath; it was in a room with a terrace facing the jungle, so all you can hear is nature. They also have a yoga gazebo that has sessions both morning and night, to start off the day refreshed and finish it calm and relaxed – ideal if you’re feeling a bit frazzled post-wedding!
Our time at Hoshinoya felt a world away from every day life, and it was heartbreaking to leave. We’d be lying if we said we weren’t already saving to go back!
Hoshinoya Bali is reached by flying to Ngurah Rai International Airport, then catching a taxi.
