Last year, we booked our cars for the bridesmaids, paid a deposit, and thought everything was sorted… until the car company phoned to say they had double booked, and they’d be unable to fulfil our booking. Argh! What could we do?
I thought of arguing that our booking was very early, and surely it was up to them to sort this mess out. But Paul and I decided that it wasn’t worth the hassle. If the company had been this unprofessional, we were probably best to find someone else anyway.
So, having gone through all the listings for wedding cars again, we called a limousine company. They offered a really good deal ‐ not too expensive, and they’ll be providing a bottle of bubbly for the bride and groom as well! The guy was really helpful and professional about the whole thing. Although, how a long, low‐slung limousine is going to make it up the rickety lane to the church, I have no idea!!
A dream come true
Almost from the day we got engaged (gosh ‐ that conversation on the cliff‐tops seems so long ago now!), we knew we really, really wanted a horse and carriage for the wedding. It will cost us a lot, but somehow it’s worth it.
Last year, we went to visit a local farm where they own lots of horses, and specialise in horse‐drawn carriages for weddings. They have even appeared in costume dramas on TV! The manager showed us around, let us choose a carriage, and even introduced us to the horses. I can’t wait for the wedding day ‐ not least because we’ll get to ride in the carriage. It’ll be a dream come true for us.
It’s really important that you make allowances for those little dreams. If you have to stretch for the really important things, you can always save money on the things that don’t matter so much. It’s your day, and you need it to be perfect.
