The Heart Bouquet

The heart bouquet is usually presented as a posy of tightly arranged flowers shaped into a love heart. For a more modern look the heart shape can be created by foliage with the flowers in the centre. A romantic and feminine bouquet that is gorgeous at any time of year and perfect for Valentine’s Day.

The heart bouquet suits most bridal gowns and looks especially stunning against full-skirted ball gowns. It is a flattering style of bouquet for the more curvy, voluptuous and plus-size brides and still looks beautiful held by a slim bride in a slinky gown.

Styling a Heart Bouquet

The heart bouquet is an unusual choice which tends to include small delicate flowers arranged tightly into a hand-held posy shaped into a love heart with a point at the base.

Just like other shaped posy bouquets, there are larger and more intricate variations of the heart bouquet – some made all of one flower type such as roses and others with a variety of different blooms. They posy style love heart bouquets tend not to have much foliage and the stems are hidden. This style of heart bouquet is held at the back with the love heart facing forwards.

Alternative heart bouquets for a more contemporary look can include trailing foliage from the point, an asymmetrical love heart or even a wreath style love heart with a hollow centre.

The heart bouquets made with shaped foliage with the blooms in the centre can make a show-stopping bouquet and give your wedding a very modern look.

The flowers and colours you choose for your bouquet will depend on your wedding colour scheme and overall theme. You could have one colour for a simply classic look or a mix of contrasting or complementary colours to add interest.

To add interest to an oval bouquet a florist can position leaves at regular intervals to each flower to create a pattern. Twigs and grasses can also be used to great effect to create shape across the bouquet.

Bride and Bridesmaid Bouquets

As the bride, you may want to have a slightly larger bouquet to your bridesmaids to ensure yours stands out. You could have different flowers packed into yours and just one flower in theirs or have yours in a vibrant colour such as red with theirs in white. This works beautifully against a white or ivory wedding dress and red bridesmaids dresses.
