Malindi is a truly wonderful place… memories can be made. For me, one moment that I never expected just happened. Rich is a cheeky Welsh boy, the only way to describe him is champagne with oysters…something sophisticated and a little bit naughty! He’s someone who you can truly rely upon and trust, but know that he doesn’t let his heart rule his head! He really is a lovable rogue!
So you can imagine my surprise when I discovered that he has been planning a particularly romantic moment for a long time. It was the fourth day into our holiday and we had been having a wonderful time. We’d been windsurfing and snorkelling and with a safari planned there was nothing more that I wanted…or so I thought. Late in the evening on the fourth night of our holiday, he took my hand and lead me from the bar to the outside pool. There was no one around and the pool was just subtly lit….he stood me by the pool, and to be honest I thought he was going to push me in, but instead he took me by the hand, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
I was gob smacked and utterly overwhelmed and said ‘yes’ immediately there was no doubt in my mind that this was guy that I wanted to be with forever.
This is a moment that you wait for all of you life and when it happens it really does feel like your moment. We’re getting married next year in Devon.
