It was New Year’s Eve and we were going up to a castle near St Andrew’s to celebrate the Millennium with fifteen of my family and some friends. While we were having dinner, we found out that my parent’s house had caught fire. My dad left the party and went to check out the situation. He missed midnight and didn’t manage to get back to the party until 1.30am. Everyone was very concerned about what had happened and the atmosphere had understandably gone a bit flat. I thought it was going to completely spoil everyone’s Millennium celebrations.Later on, I was sitting enjoying a drink when I heard my boyfriend’s voice over the microphone wishing everyone a Happy New Year. He then asked me to join him on the floor and proceeded to get down on one knee and propose to me in front of 200 people. It was wonderful! All of my family were delighted and it brought joy back into our party. We’ve set the date now for 16 December and plan on getting married in the same castle where we celebrated our engagement and the start of the new Millennium. It was a night none of us will ever forget!
