On the morning of the 8th May 2000, whilst I was at work, I received an e-mail warning me that a surprise event was about to happen. By the afternoon, I was still wondering what ‘it’ was. Then at 3.30, our receptionist called and told me that something was in reception for me.
A dozen red roses awaited and I thought that was it! After work, Dave picked me up in his motor and we collected my son and went home.
Later that evening, after David cooked dinner for us both, I realised that something was still in the ‘wind’, as it were, because he kept hinting and asking if I knew what he had meant by a surprise. After dinner, we sat on the patio and, whilst sharing a bottle of wine, he then popped the question and asked me if I would marry him. I could not answer immediately, as I was taken back with surprise. About ten minutes later, my mind was made up for sure and I said yes.
I know for certain that I will not forget this day and I am certainly looking forward to our big day.
