How old were you both when you got engaged?
I was 22 and he was 35
Who proposed?
I did, breaking with tradition I know, but it felt right.
How did your partner (or you) propose?
I told Duncan that I needed to talk to him when he dropped me home in his car, I spent about half an hour uming and arhing because I was so scared of what I was about to say. I couldn’t look him in the face, but when he laughed and said yes it was the best feeling in the world.
Who did you share the news of your engagement with first?
My friends at work, and my sister, I was unsure about telling the rest of my family as they are very traditional people who like things done a certain way.
Describe your ring.
It’s an 8ct White gold ring, with some tiny amethyst stones half way round the band, and a bigger amethyst on the centre.
Did you help choose the ring?
Yes I saw it and fell in love with it, good thing it was on sale!
Will your partner wear an engagement ring as well?
Duncan was wearing my dad’s wedding ring by way of an engagement ring, but we just had it resized to fit his ring finger so now he can’t wear it.
Did you have an engagement party?
We’re planning a combined party at the end of November, moving in together and engagement, and new jobs. Everything all at once! Its a fancy dress party so it should be amazing.
If so, where was it held?
It’s going to be at our local pub..
How many people were invited?
All our friends really. Anyone who we think needs to be there.
Did you have a particular theme for your party?
Just fancy dress.
