About five years ago, when I was 19, I went on a weekend away with a Christian group I was involved with. I made lots of new friends, including a girl called Ruth, and after the weekend, we kept in contact by snail mail. She shared the details of my letters with her best friend Rachel, who had also been on the weekend. But the writing fizzled out after about 18 months and we lost touch.Anyway…about four(ish)years later, I left a message on a website. All I said was something like, “Anyone fancy a chat?”Rachel saw it and replied, not knowing who I was. I didn’t know who she was, but replied to it. A few emails went back and forth and finally, she twigged who I was and that we had met ages ago. She knew all about me from the letters I’d sent to Ruth.But it took her a while to let me in on this. When she did, we decided to meet up, and I went to see her in Liverpool.It was November 1998 and we had a meal and a trip on a Mersey ferry! Yes, it was cold, but a very special day. We have been together ever since and I proposed on 17 July this year. We will be getting married on 21 July 2001 after Rachel has finished uni.
