My fiance Neville proposed to me at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris on 30 June, 1999.We were only in France for one night, staying at Disneyland Paris, when he insisted that we must go into Paris for the afternoon and do some sightseeing. The city holds a lot of meaning for us, as we had our first nights away together there for my 18th birthday. Three and a half years later, we arrived in Paris for the second time. But Nev was in a very strange mood and I didn’t know why, although now I know it was just nerves! We arrived at the Eiffel Tower but Nev said he didn’t want to go up. He said he just felt like walking around. When we finally made it to the Tower, I had no idea why he was in such a funny mood, but practically the whole way up to the top he didn’t speak to me. I was very upset as I thought I had done something to upset him. But, when we got to the top, it all became clear. As soon as we started to look at the beautiful view across the city, he asked me.I was very shocked and happy, especially when he produced my dream engagement ring from his pocket, which fitted perfectly. Of course, I said yes. I remained in shock for days afterwards and couldn’t stop staring at my dazzling ring. I am still now deliriously happy and I can’t wait for the wedding at our local church in September 2001. My main aim now is to plan the perfect wedding day for us to share and start our wonderful life together.
