How and when did you meet?
We met in a club, he was a friend of a friend, standing in a corner looking shy, so when we were introduced I tried to talk to him. He seemed different to other guys and we hit it off straight away!
How old are you both?
I’ve just turned 30, he has just turned 28.
Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?
For our first day trip together, he had taken me to Blackpool for the day, so on our first anniversary we did the same thing. We went for a walk and were on the North Pier, which is really quiet, all the buildings are empty. We walked to the end and there were some people fishing so he suggested we explore around the backs of the empty buildings (where the pier looked most rickety – I was not keen!). Anyway, the pier became really narrow so we were in single file, I was in front then he called me, I turned around and he was down on one knee holding a ring! It was a total surprise and the perfect moment!
Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?
The forums on the confetti website were the most helpful tool I had, everyone was so nice and I got so much inspiration from hearing about other peoples experiences
Did you buy any confetti products for your wedding? If so, did you visit a store, buy online or by mail order?
I visited the Leeds store, we bought some gift bags from Confetti and a few bits and pieces.
Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it
I wore an Alfred Angelo dress which was ivory with eggplant detailing and a strip of eggplant across the top and bottom, with eggplant corset lacing on the back.
Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?
My bridesmaids were mine and Dan’s sisters and three of my closest friends plus my two small nieces. My nieces wore flower girl dresses from Debenhams and the five adults wore Alfred Angelo dresses in purple and eggplant.
Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?
Dan chose his two closest friends, they all wore suits from Moss Bros.
Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?
Religious.
Where did you hold your ceremony?
St John’s Church, Bilton Lane, Harrogate.
Where did you hold your reception?
The Old Swan Hotel, Harrogate.
Did you have any special wedding transport?
We had a 1930s Rolls Royce and a 1930s bus for everyone else!
How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?
We had 85 guests at the reception then a further 50 or so for the evening.
Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?
We spent our first night at the hotel, in the bridal suite, complete with four poster bed! We went on honeymoon to Zermatt in Switzerland.
What was your most memorable moment of the day?
The most memorable moment was arriving at the church and bursting into hysterical tears the minute I walked through the door!
