Natalya and Phillip real life wedding

Natalya and Phillip Real Life Park Lane Hotel, Liverpool Wedding

When was your wedding?

06/09/2008

How and when did you meet?

We met 7 and a half years ago in a bar. I saw Phillip talking to one of my friends and so asked who he was, we ended up dancing together and have been inseparable ever since.

How old are you both?

Natalia is 24 and Phillip is 25

Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?

Phillip proposed in January 2004, we went to a lovely restaurant for a meal, enjoyed a bottle of wine and chatted all evening. When we arrived back to the hotel we were staying in Phillip asked me to go and look at the shampoo’s in the bathroom so silly me went toddling off to see what he was talking about (same usual hotel shampoos, I thought he was going insane), anyway when I got back to the room there it was a gorgeous engagement ring sitting on the pillow. I burst out crying, he asked if that was a yes and I said…you haven’t asked me yet. He then said some beautiful words and we both cried with excitement.

Did you have hen and stag celebrations? If so, what did you do?

Yes. Phillip went to Bratislava with 19 of his friends and had a very drunken but fun few days. I went to London to see the Lion King and then had a day sight seeing and spending time with my wonderful friends and family.

How did your groom help with the wedding planning?

He gave his opinions on most things even if it was just a yes or no. He sorted the suits as I didn’t want to know what we were having and nearer the time he took over with all of the confirmation and paying balances so I could relax.

Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It helped with getting advice from other brides on certain aspects of the day and also I ordered some of my table decor from Confetti which was very helpful.

Did you buy any confetti products for your wedding? If so, did you visit a store, buy online or by mail order?

Yes, I bought them online.

Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it

My dress was a Demitirios dress, I fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on even though it was so not what I was going for. I bought it from a local bridal store.

Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?

I had one bridesmaid who wore a dress from Debenhams and I also had a flower girl who wore a dress from BHS.

Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?

We didn’t have any ushers, Phillip chose his best friend of 21 years to be his best man and they were all suited and booted by Greenwoods 1861, they all looked very dapper!

Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?

Religious

Where did you hold your ceremony?

We had our Ceremony in a local church which was very special.

Where did you hold your reception?

We held our Reception at The Park Lane Hotel, Liverpool.

Did you have any special wedding transport?

Yes we had 2 Princess Vanden Daimler’s and they were beautiful, we felt like royalty.

How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?

We had 40 people to the day which was immediate family and close friends then we had a further 110 people in the evening.

Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?

The reception was traditional in style and the colours were red and ivory, our colour scheme was ivory, gold and ice pink so it fitted in really well with the venue especially as most of our decor was simple and classy just like the hotel.

How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?

We had very simple table decor, flowers on each table, the tables were named after different flowers and we had that flower as the centrepiece for that table. We then had a few pink and gold heart sweets (bought from Confetti) scattered on the tables which worked really well.

Did you give your guests favours?

No we just had sweets scattered on the tables instead.

Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?

My bouquet was ivory roses with pink sweet pea and fresia in the middle, my bridesmaid has champagne roses and my flower girl had a basket of roses and frecia. I had different flowers on each table as mentioned above, I had one table with a Cylinder vase with lots of tall Lillies, I had an hour glass vase filled with Roses, a tall thin cylinder vase with a single Orchard, a smaller hourglass vase filled with Tulips and then the top table had 3 fishbowls with floating Gerbera heads. My Florist was a local lady Joanne at Hollywood Florists.

What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?

Our venue did our catering and we chose to have a Carvery as there was plenty of choice for everyone. It went down a treat.

What did you choose for your wedding cake, and who made it?

We had miniature cakes with a larger top tier and we got it from The Big Wedding Cake Company who were amazing.

Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?

In the evening we had a Swing Singer and a DJ who were both amazing.

Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?

We had a honeymoon list with Thomas Cook which I highly recommend it was easy and efficient.

Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?

We spent our first night as a married couple at the hotel where we had our Reception as this was included and we booked our honeymoon with Thomas Cook, we went to Mexico and it was amazing. Highly recommended.

What was your most memorable moment of the day?

Saying our vows was absolutely amazing and such a special moment, the speeches were also a most memorable moment, there were more moments throughout the afternoon that were very special but the most memorable would have to be dancing the night away with all of my friends watching everyone have so much fun and knowing we were to thank for it.

Did you experience any “nightmare” moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?

Erm…not really nightmare but I did get overly stressed at times.

Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?

Make sure you don’t overly trust your venue. We had a few meetings with our Venue and loved them and they were so helpful and seemed to know exactly what we wanted, however they made a few errors on the day and this was definitely their fault, however, I think we trusted them too much which may have led to some of the errors….but not all of them. That aside, it didn’t in any way ruin our day.
