How and when did you meet?

Through mutual friends one night down the local.

How old are you both?

27 and 32.

Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?

He proposed on Christmas morning in 2004. He bought the ring and wrapped it up in lots of boxes.

Did you have hen and stag celebrations? If so, what did you do?

I went to Leeds and Martin went to Blackpool.

How did your groom help with the wedding planning?

Martin actually picked the location and his suit!

Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?

Yes, by using the forum for ideas and the budget planner. I got ideas for dresses, flowers, etc.

Did you buy any confetti products for your wedding? If so, did you visit a store, buy online or by mail order?

No, as it was abroad there was no need for favours, etc..

Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it

My dress was a two piece from Veromia. It was ivory with scattered crystal bodice and an organza skirt. I bought it from a bridal shop called Laura Day.

Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?

I had six bridesmaids—two are friends from school and one is a friend from work. Three little ones were our nieces. They wore tea length green dresses with a pink shimmer and pink ribbon made by a shop in Whitby.

Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?

We had two best men, Martin’s close friends. They just wore plain suits and a open shirt.

Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?

Civil.

Where did you hold your ceremony?

St Paul’s Bay Lindos in Rhodes.

Where did you hold your reception?

The Coliseum in Pefkos (Rhodes) and we are having a celebration party back home at the Spa Hotel in Saltburn.

Did you have any special wedding transport?

A glass bottom boat.

How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?

41 came out to Rhodes for the wedding, and we have invited 120 for our celebration party back home.

Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?

Bright colours, no theme.

How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?

The restaurant decorated the tables with local bright flowers picked from the owner’s garden.

Did you give your guests favours?

We gave all the ladies a flower from the girls who come around the tables.

Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?

My flowers were bright pink roses and a local tulip style flower. My bridesmaids had artificial flowers which a friend arranged. They were pink roses and lilies. I don’t have the name of the florist but she was Greek.

What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?

We had a Greek menu. Greek Salad or mushrooms to start. Kleftiko, moussaka or chicken for main and carrot cake wedding cake for dessert.

What did you choose for your wedding cake, and who made it?

Carrot Cake. It was made in Lindos by a local baker.

Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?

No, we wanted it simple—just dinner and drinks.
We are having a DJ at our celebration party back home.

Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?

No, we asked for vouchers.

Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?

We had a combined wedding/honeymoon.

What was your most memorable moment of the day?

Seeing dolphins on our champagne cruise.

Did you experience any ‘nightmare’ moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?

No, it was very laid back.

Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?

Definitely do it abroad! But make the most of your day!
