How and when did you meet?

We met 8 years ago when we were working for the same company

How old are you both?

27 and 34.

Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?

Richard got down on one knee and proposed in front of all our friends.

Did you have hen and stag celebrations? If so, what did you do?

The stags went to Skegness for the night and the hens had a 70’s murder mystery night at a hotel.

How did your groom help with the wedding planning?

He picked his suits, the rings and the reception.

Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?

My friend ordered me some of the little bottles of bubbles from confetti. I liked looking at all the new stuff.

Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it

It was called ‘Anita’ and it was from Pronuptia, Derby, and it had gorgeous lilac beads/flowers around the top of the dress.  It had flowers on the waist and down the back of the skirt but I preferred to have it plain so I had them taken off.

Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?

We had six bridesmaids, my best friends, Emma, Becky and Clare, my sister, Laura, and my two cousins, Sophie and Meaghan.  They all wore lilac bridesmaid dresses from BHS.

Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?

Billy was our best man and Kirsten was our usher. They wore suits from Youngs Hire, Suits You, East Midlands Designer Outlet, J28.

Did you give your guests favours?

The ladies all had a little cream handbag with a lilac flower on which contained chocolates. The men had miniature whiskey or brandy and there were teddy bears for the little children, as well as bubbles for everyone.

What did you choose for your wedding cake, and who made it?

We had a four tiered wedding cake. It was white with tiny lilac flowers on it. My cousin made it for us as a wedding present. We had fruit, sponge and chocolate.

Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?

For our honeymoon we went touring around Austria and Switzerland.

Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?

My advice to other brides is on your wedding day stop every now and then throughout your day and just take in the surroundings – I did and I remember every time I did it and I can remember what I saw, what my guests were wearing, who they were talking to at that time. The parts when I did just stop to think are the parts of the day I remember most because I made myself stop and take it all in.  The day goes far too fast.
