Samantha and Jonathan: Their Real Wedding

When was your wedding?

01/08/09

How and when did you meet?

We met at our local pub in March 2006.

How old are you both?

I am 22 and Jonathan is 29.

Did you have hen and stag celebrations? If so, what did you do?

I went for a meal with all my close family and then went into Norwich city centre clubbing with all the girls. Jonathan went on a big pub crawl with all his brothers and a few friends.

How did your groom help with the wedding planning?

Jonathan didn’t really get involved, he knew I had a dream wedding in my head and let me get on with it. I did ask for his opinion on things but he was happy to let me get on with it. I did lots of research on Confetti and on the forums before the big day and it was all such a great help.

Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?

Yes everyday I was on the forums asking the other girls for help and advice. I made some great friends on the forum and can’t resist now popping online to help other brides out.

Did you buy any confetti products for your wedding? If so, did you visit a store, buy online or by mail order?

I bought a few bits for the tables such as cameras and I purchased them online as I didn’t have a store close by.

Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it

I wore a Bonny Bridal dress. I tried on about 5 dresses but as soon as I tried ‘my dress’ on I knew it was the one and got it there and then.

Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?

Yes I had 5 bridesmaids. I had my 2 best friends Gemma Bean and Melanie Carter, Gemma’s 2 year old daughter Lillie-Grace, my cousin Chantelle Craske and Jonathan’s 3 year old niece Kaila Hubbard.

Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?

Jonathan had his dad as his best man. My brother Gavin Craske was usher.

Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?

We had a religious ceremony at Thorpe St Andrews Church in Norwich

Where did you hold your ceremony?

Thorpe St Andrews church Norwich

Where did you hold your reception?

The Oaklands Hotel, Norwich

Did you have any special wedding transport?

Yes my mum and dad surprised me on the day with a horse and carriage; something I think I have never seen in a city! It made my day and made me cry …to the anguish of my make up artist!

How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?

Jonathan comes from a big family (he is one of 11 children) so we only had immediate family of 70 to the sit down and then an extra 60 guests in the evening.

Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?

Our theme was red and ivory.

How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?

We had red favour bags, ivory cameras, red and ivory gems on the tables and red and ivory table names.

Did you give your guests favours?

Yes they had red favour bags with sugared almonds. The children had jelly beans.

Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?

Our florist was Constance Webster. My flowers were red and ivory roses.

What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?

We had a sit down meal of melon/soup for starter a roast beef dinner and profiteroles/cheese cake for desert. We had chocolate mints and tea/coffee afterwards

What did you choose for your wedding cake, and who made it?

We had a 4 tier wedding cake. Our bottom tier was Fruit, then sponge then carrot cake. The top tier was fruit which we have kept and had frozen as my mum wanted to keep the tradition of keeping it for the christening of our first child.

Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?

Yes we had a DJ in the evening. We also had a massive chocolate fountain which went down very well with the kids (and he big kids!)

Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?

No we didn’t have a guest list. Most people were kind enough to give us vouchers/money.

Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?

We spent our first night in the Oaklands hotel we then drove to Gatwick the next day and flew to Tunisia for our honeymoon for one week

What was your most memorable moment of the day?

Just seeing all our friends and family all together having an amazing time. Also just showing everyone how much we love each other. It was the BEST day of our lives!

Did you experience any “nightmare” moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?

Yes, my seamstress broke her wrist a few days before the wedding when all of my alterations needed doing! Was a big panic but I ended up just wearing big bright pink wedge high heel shoes! Which I laugh about now!

Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?

Just enjoy every minute. Don’t worry if things go wrong…its the best day and you will love it! Make sure you have a good photographer!
