It snowed a good few inches on Suzanne & Damian’s wedding day, but it didn’t matter – they got a true winter wedding and gorgeous views! A very relaxed and personal celebration for just 50 guests in a splendid location with a regal colour theme and a fireplace to warm the hearts on this special day was exactly what they wanted – enjoy this beautiful real wedding!
Bride & Groom: Suzanne, retail manager, and Damian, customer service manager
Length of engagement… 11 months
Wedding date… 17 January 2013
We met… online!
When did you know he/she was “the one”… A brief split summer 2011 was too much for Damian!
He proposed… on Valentine’s Day 2012 on bended knee by the side of the bed with morning coffee!
Wedding ceremony & reception… Raven Hall Hotel, Ravenscar, Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Our ceremony was… a Civil Ceremony attended by 50 close friends and close family members. Quiet intimate affair with an open log fire to warm the winter’s day whilst we dined. A generally cosy, relaxed atmosphere with love and laughter!
We chose our venue because… the price and service were perfect for us. Beautiful clifftop views and the ‘great hall’ was exactly the room we wanted to get married in.
Wedding photography… Zdenko Kovacik from zdenico.moonfruit.com
Bride’s glasses by… Bridal Eyewear by Karen Louise
Wedding theme/colours… ivory and purple, regal theme
Confetti.co.uk helped with… Articles about colour themes and ideas on budgeting.
The bridesmaids and groomsmen were… Bridesmaid was our niece Niamh Eastick. Best man was David Copley, groom’s best friend and usher was Austen Warne, now brother-in-law to all! Pageboys were our nephews Murray Buckingham and Thomas Warne
My wedding dress… Tried it on and liked it straight away. It was the 4th dress tried on. I went for it with my mum, sister and mother in law to be.
Favourite part of the wedding was… The fireworks!
First dance song… Everything by Michael Buble
Advice for other brides… Stick to what you want and don’t get railroaded into things that are not yours. Take your time on the big decisions. Also if you are clever and budget well, you really can have the day of your dreams
On our honeymoon we went to… Marrakech and we would very much recommend it!
