From handmade favours and decorations to their adorable daughter Evie, Claire and Lloyd’s real wedding is sure to melt your hearts this cold October. In shades of pinks and greens, this vintage inspired wedding is beautifully captured by Jenny Martin Photography.
Bride and Groom… Claire and Lloyd
Wedding date… Saturday 29th June 2013
We met… Lloyd was my first kiss! We were childhood friends and it wasn’t until September 2008 that we got together.
The proposal… Lloyd’s mum kindly offered to babysit our daughter while he took me out for cocktails. We drove to a park in Shropshire and to my surprise he got down on one knee and proposed.
We knew it was ‘the one’… Straight away
Length of engagement… 20 months
Wedding photographer… Jenny Martin from Jenny Martin Photography. She was amazing, she put everyone at ease and felt like one of our guests.
How did Confetti.co.uk help… I love the articles and real weddings on Confetti.co.uk and found them really helpful when researching my own.
My dress was… by Ronald Joyce, it was the first dress I tried on and I fell in love with it. It was so beautiful my mum cried as soon as I put it on and then again when I put a veil on. I carried on looking for a few months thinking I was being too hasty, but no other dress came close.
Our bridesmaids were… my oldest friend Charlotte and three of my cousins Donna, Sharon and Kate.
Our wedding ceremony was… held at the Leylands St Marys R.C Church, it was a personal religious service with readings from our usher Martin and our bridesmaid Kate. We had a beautiful rendition of Ava Maria as we signed the register.
Our reception venue was… at the Beeston Manor in Hoghton. After viewing a number of venues with my bridesmaid Charlotte I was starting to think nothing would meet my high expectations. That was until we saw Beeston Manor. It was perfect! We realised straight away the beautiful gardens and views would look amazing in photographs.
Our groomsmen were… Will, Martin, Martin and Matt.
Our wedding theme was… A casual vintage theme with pale pinks and greens. Our florist created beautiful floral centrepieces with birdcages and candelabras.
Our wedding was unique and special because… I handmade a lot of the wedding decorations, including the place settings, table names, 85 metres of bunting and the favours which were jars of chutney. It was nice to give the day a personal touch and seeing everything we had worked so hard on come together.
Did anything funny or unusual happen at your wedding?… My Grandparents live in Ireland and couldn’t come to the wedding, so during my Dad’s speech he played a recording of my Granddad playing the fiddle. It was extremely emotional. It was lovely knowing we had a part of them there.
Our first dance song was… I won’t give up by Jason Mraz
Our favourite part of the wedding was… The whole day, it was exactly how we envisioned it.
Our honeymoon was… a two weeks trip to Egypt with our beautiful two year old daughter Evie.
Any advice for other brides… Stay calm! Plans will fail and things will go wrong but somehow things always work out. Also remember this is yours and your husband’s day so just do what you want; you can’t please everyone.
