I hope you’re all having a wonderful start to the New Year. I know we have! We’ve been inundated with amazing weddings for 2014 and can’t wait to share them with you. We’re going to start with a stunning London wedding from Perfect Day Photography. With style and drama they were able to capture the true essence of Megan and Juan’s glamorous big day, with the laughter, the tears, and all the emotions of the day so beautifully captured you’ll feel like you were there celebrating the day with them.
Bride and Groom… Megan and Juan
Wedding date… Friday 3rd May 2013
We met… at a bar in Islington – literally at the bar!
The proposal… Juan proposed. He did it half way through a run in my home town Sydney. We were running up a cliff that overlooked North Curl Curl beach. Juan insisted that we took a break and then popped the question whilst we were watching the waves roll in over the beach.
We knew it was ‘the one’… Sounds really cheesy but I think we both knew pretty earlier on. From the day I met him I knew there was something special about him.
Length of engagement… 18 months
How did Confetti.co.uk help in your big day? We found the articles very useful.
My dress was… a Wendy Mankin dress. Immediately after Juan proposed to me (i.e. the next day) I took mum to a wedding shop in Sydney called Marry Me. I didn’t intend on choosing a dress that day but I didn’t think I’d get another chance to try wedding dresses on whilst my mum was there as she lives in Sydney and I live in London. It was the eighth dress I tried on and it was actually the one I thought was the most boring but the shop assistant was adamant that I try it on – thank goodness I did! It fit like a glove and suited my figure and skin tone.
Our Wedding theme was… White and cornflower blue
Our wedding ceremony was held at… St James Church in Clerkenwell, London. We had 130 guests attending the church ceremony. The entire day was memorable but seeing Juan standing at the other end of the aisle, knowing that we were about to get married is my favourite memory.
Our bridesmaids were…. 3 of my closest friends. They wore blues dresses that were made by my mother in-law.
Our groomsmen were… my brother and Juan’s two brothers.
Our wedding photographer was… Sean from Perfect Day Photography, who was incredible. Very talented and very professional.
Our wedding reception was… In the crypt underneath the church. We actually just stumbled across it one day when we were out walking and knew it was the venue for us.
Our first dance was… Only fools rush in by Elvis Presley
Our wedding was unique and special because… All our friends and family had travelled the world to be there.
Did anything funny or unusual happen at your wedding? The flash mob dance that my Australian friends and family organised – it was hilarious!
What is your advice for other brides? Decide early what matters most to you and then put the biggest part of your budget towards it. For us it was music and entertainment. Don’t stress about the small things, they really don’t matter on the day.
Our honeymoon was… Mauritius, Heritage Awali Golf resort. We had the most wonderful time, I would totally recommend it.
