There’s something about fairy tale weddings we just love at Confetti, with beautiful princesses, handsome princes and enchanted castles what’s not to love; and I’m happy to say Rachel and David’s Real Wedding has it all! With her Ronald Joyce dress and elegant head piece Rachel is every inch the princess and once again Peckforton Castle, with its stunning design has proved to be a spectacular choice for anyone looking for a fairy tale wedding.
Bride and Groom… Rachel & David
Wedding date… Saturday 4th August 2012
We met… On a blind Date organised by Davids’ mum!
The proposal… David proposed on bended knee in a slurry pit on Christmas Eve.
We knew it was ‘the one’… Immediately!
Length of engagement… 1 and a half years
How did Confetti.co.uk help in your big day? We purchased our beautiful invitations and stationary from Confetti.
My dress was… By Ronald Joyce from Bespoke Brides, Mollington, in Chester. My mum lives 4 hours away, so having organised a weekend visit myself, my mum and my aunty spent a lovely weekend visiting a number of bridal shops. I actually tried ‘THE’ dress on as a bit of a ‘Whim’ and it was beautiful. I then went looking for dresses again but this time with my bridesmaid, Eileen. My response to most of the dresses I tried was ‘it’s nice…..’ and that was about as excited as I got. So, when I visited Bespoke Brides again and tried the Ronald Joyce dress for the second time, that was it, SOLD! The dress was ordered well in advance and the next 15 months were spent worrying I may not fit down the aisle!…the dress skirt was somewhat large.
Our wedding ceremony was… Held at St. Deiniol’s Church, Hawarden, Flintshire. We had a religious service with 80 guests, apparently I was late but I have no recollection of this. I simply remember both David and I smiling throughout the service. A former pupil of mine, Hanna (now a trained opera singer) sang Schubert’s ‘Ave Maria’ beautifully whilst we signed the register.

Our wedding photographer was… Caroline White, who was amazing!
Our wedding reception was… At Peckforton Castle. We found it on the internet, visited and fell head over heels in love.
Our wedding theme was… ‘Love’ and the colours were burgundy and pewter.
Our favourite part of the wedding was… My dad’s speech, it was very special.
Our wedding was unique and special because… Of our guests and the distance they travelled to be with us on our special day.
Did anything funny or unusual happen at your wedding? Due to the size of my dress, I found it a bit of a challenge moving around, this was particularly amusing when after the wedding breakfast the bride and groom were invited to leave the room first, my husband got up and started stalking off leaving me struggling with tables and chairs and the dress! Needless to say the guests found this hilarious.
Our first dance was… Loving You by Minnie Riperton
What is your advice for other brides? Take things as they come and don’t allow anything to stress you out.
Our honeymoon was to… The Body Holiday Hotel in Saint Lucia. It was fabulous! We had a spa treatment every day and enjoyed the amazing facilities. We would definitely recommend it!
