Vintage is a timeless theme that will never date, shown beautifully by our contemporary vintage wedding theme. You can have lots of fun with your vintage wedding invitations too—they can be bold and colourful or elegant and stylish. Here are just 15 designs to inspire you.
15 Beautiful Vintage Wedding Invitations
1) Vintage Travel with Aeroplane
This is one of our favourite vintage wedding invitations: a pastel blue “Vintage Travel” boarding-pass style invitation with a charming nautical star design. It comes with an RSVP card too, decorated with a vintage aeroplane.
2) Vintage Travel with Hot Air Balloon
Similarly, we also love this daiquiri green version of the same “Vintage Travel” first-class-ticket style invitation. Once again it features a beautiful golden nautical star and “stamp of approval”, but this time the accompanying RSVP is in the style of a whimsical vintage hot air balloon. We think these would be a perfect fit for a destination vintage wedding like Audrey and Mark’s.
3) Vintage Romance
Our “Vintage Romance” wedding stationery collection is one of our favourites for the lovely vintage blue floral designs it offers. For a beautiful vintage blue wedding theme, we love the idea of using this “Vintage Romance” program and either writing out your invitation wording by hand on the blank left-hand-side page or slipping in an actual wedding invitation and RSVP card as paper inserts. (This program is also great for the space it leaves for some “Dry Those Happy Tears” Tissues.)
4) Contemporary Vintage
For a more classic vintage wedding (don’t miss the beautiful classic vintage style of Anna & Gavin’s vintage style real wedding at Linthwaite House) you’ll love these “Contemporary Vintage” invitations, shown here in “Victorian Purple”. They come with stylish swirls, cross-hatch patterns and elegant script and are beautifully finished off when paired with a Pearls and Lace envelope/invitation.
5) Classic Script
Our “Classic Script” invitation is both modern and traditional with a creative timeline-style design that makes it one of the most interesting vintage wedding invitations. It’s also one of the most striking when paired with a laser cut envelope. Can’t you just imagine this beautiful invitation paired with a pearls, lace, and roses wedding theme?
6) Modern Fairytale
Our stunning “Modern Fairy Tale” invitation has a beautiful classic-vintage look to it with its elegant format and casual script font + monogram print in antique pink. Furthermore, get creative with your stationery and you can make your invitations even more striking. The “Modern Fairy Tale” invitation on the below-left was cut into a more ornate shape, and the invitation on the below-right was backed on gold card and paired with a golden envelope and “Return Address” label. 7) Kraft Scratch Card
These Kraft scratch-card invitations are reminiscent of vintage tickets with the black script on the aged brown cards, however the most interesting thing about them is that they allow your guests to interact with them. After all, in order to see the date of your wedding they have to scratch off the circles. That makes them some of the most unique vintage wedding invitations, and some of the most fun!
8) Vintage Chalkboard
The ornate black-and-white design of this “Chalkboard Print” invitation is understated but elegant and works well for any wedding theme. We can especially imagine them for a casual country-rustic wedding, or a country-vintage wedding like Claire and Lloyd’s vintage real wedding.
9) Vintage Bloom
Flowers and blooms are often a staple of vintage weddings, and the pretty, minimalist design of these “Vintage Bloom” invitations make for a simple and classic vintage wedding. Furthermore, they go perfectly with these gorgeous vintage DIY lace flower napkin rings.
10) Rustic Elegance
We paired a lovely embossed, laser cut envelope with a “Rustic Elegance” invitation to create a beautiful rustic-glam or rustic-vintage effect, and then we transformed it even further with a wooden button and some craft paper twine (see more with these 8 easy DIY wedding ideas). We think this “Rustic Elegance” theme looks especially great when paired with our Lace Medley and Antique Chic stationery collections too!
11) Burlap Chic
The below “Burlap Chic” invitation is a beautiful rustic-vintage theme with its stylish floral designs and the DIY pieces of fabric. DIY vintage weddings can look fantastic, and even a little bit of DIY can go a long way to transforming your wedding—check out these DIY wedding ideas for more inspiration.
12) Homespun Charm
This “Homespun Charm” invitation makes us think of vintage garden parties or festivals with the lovely flowers, the banner, and the pennant bunting. The blue ribbon also adds a very pretty final touch. For a lovely festival style wedding, don’t miss Freya and Chris’s DIY Festival Wedding.
13) Retro Rose
“Retro” weddings are very often a branch of vintage weddings, well known for their use of bright and bold designs and patterns to create a colourful vintage look (as seen in our 1960s retro wedding inspiration). Therefore, we love this “Retro Rose” invitation with its beautiful vintage rose design and the polka-dot background.
14) Candy Colourful
This bold “Candy Colourful” invitation has a vivid red polka-dot design reminiscent of the Pop Art movement and, again, works especially well for retro-vintage weddings or colourful summer weddings. We especially like the addition of the yellow ribbon!
15) Vintage Hand Fans
Hand fans are must-have accessories for weddings held in summer or abroad in warmer climates, and while they work wonderfully as on-the-day programs/orders-of-service at the wedding ceremony (or as unique wedding reception favours or menu cards), we think they would work great as alternative vintage wedding invitations too.
