At Confetti we love destination weddings, especially ones that include our favourite themes. Which is why we wanted to share Audrey and Mark’s real wedding with our brides to be. Sonho a Dois Algarve helped the lucky couple plan their dream wedding, and what a wonderful job they did. The wedding is packed full of delights from a glorious outdoor ceremony, to a sea view reception along with some of the cutest vintage decor we have seen in a long time!
Bride and Groom… Audrey & Mark .
Wedding date… Friday 24th of May 2013.
We met… During our first year of college almost 15 years ago now. He caught my eye and there was no going back from there.
The proposal… Mark proposed under a tree filled with big red love heart shaped lights while on a break away to Vienna visiting the Christmas market. It was romantic and completely took me by surprise.
I knew he was ‘the one’… After spending time together instead of studying I knew I couldn’t be without him.
Length of engagement… 1 and a half years

Our bridesmaids were… My sister Stephanie and Emily.
My dress was… Grace Kelly designed by David Fielden. It was purchased in Myrtle Ivory, Dublin, Ireland. I had tried on possibly 8 to 9 in total but knew this was perfect the minute I stepped into it, thankfully my bridesmaid Emily had persuaded me to try it on. A good friend had recommended the shop and they were brilliant to deal with. My mum and sister came to the second fitting and there definitely were some glossy eyes!
Our groomsmen were… Michael our best man and Sean.
Our wedding ceremony was… At the stunningly beautiful Vila Vita Parc in Porches, Portugal. Our ceremony was set outside in the stunning grounds of the Vila Vita Parc. We had 42 guests in total as we wanted an intimate ceremony with our closest friends and immediate family. Our ceremony was civil, short and full of fun with beautiful music. The sun shone all day and the views of the sea and lake were breathtaking.
Our favourite part of the wedding was… Walking down the aisle with my Dad, seeing all the smiling faces, beautiful music and finally arriving to join Mark was amazing and something I will never forget.
Our wedding photographer was… The fantastic Yes I do! Algarve Wedding Photography, they captured our day beautifully.
Our wedding reception was at… The Vila Vita Parc Hotel. Our wedding planners Sonho a Dois were instrumental in helping us chose our perfect venue and delivering a special day. Initially we had ruled out the Vila Vita Parc based on price alone however when we viewed it with our planners on a trip to Portugal we knew we had to get married there. We fell in love with it. The scenery, the food and the service is impeccable. We had our meal outside on the terrace with stunning views of the sea, for dancing and music we moved inside to the Aladdin Bar.
Our wedding was unique and special because… Having a relaxed, fun day with all the people close to use in such an amazing setting, it truly made the day special.
Our first dance was… God Only Knows by The Beach Boys
Did anything funny or unusual happen at your wedding? Lots of funny moments, however a plane overhead with a banner was definitely a big surprise for me and our guests. It was a lovely moment and I was really touched that Mark had organised it, with some help from Sonho a Dois too. Our band Double Cocktail were amazing and had lots of little surprises for us and our guests during the day. Mark and I never stopped smiling.
What is your advice for other brides? Lots of planning and research is essential, I would advise you go with your gut feeling when making decisions and then regardless of everything else just enjoy the day with each other.
For our honeymoon… We travelled to The Maldives, it was paradise and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. We will never forget the 7 days spent there and feel so lucky to have had such an amazing honeymoon.
