How to Not Let Wedding Planning Take Over Your Life

It’s very easy to let wedding planning take over when there’s so much you feel you have to do. You’re preparing for such a big day, and you want to make it perfect. But you must remember to stop and breathe. Here’s how to not let wedding planning take over your life.

Plan Carefully and Take Time Out

In order to be organised and avoid wedding stress, it’s a great idea to create a plan of what you have to do per month, per week, or even per day during your wedding planning. In this plan you should include some set days every week where you can have a day off the wedding planning—do something else. Don’t neglect your friends and your family. Spend time with your partner. Have days where you don’t even think about the wedding.

Try to Make It Fun

Wedding planning is a big deal to a lot of people, but it isn’t fun for everyone—you may not be the creative type, or the does-well-under-pressure type. Wedding planning can be awful sometimes. But try not to let it become a chore; there are some elements that can be fun. Make a little adventure out of searching for your perfect wedding location, for example, and always try to go with your partner on venue visits.

Let People Help

It may be tempting to be a one-man/woman-army during your planning, but that’s the fast-track to being overwhelmed. Your friends and family will probably be more than willing to help, so don’t be afraid to delegate tasks to the people you trust. The bridesmaids and groomsmen are the perfect choice to help organise hen and stag parties, and help with keeping the planning organised.

Also, many couples hire a wedding planner and stylist these days. These people are very good at their job and have often seen a lot of the weddingsphere. A stylist will help you choose the right colour scheme, among other things, so you don’t have to worry about anything clashing, and a planner will often help in everything right up to the big day; they’ll be prepared for nearly any eventuality. If you can trust that they know what they’re doing, it will be a huge load of stress that comes off you, and an enormous responsibility.
