Organising your wedding flowers doesn’t seem like such a big deal, but when you get really stuck in, you’ll understand how much there is to consider: the colour, the type of flower, the size of the bouquet, the style… it gets tricky but it doesn’t have to be. Silk Blooms is here to give you real-life examples of how brides chose their flowers and why everyone should consider silk flowers for weddings.
Nicola and Darren’s wedding
These lovely ladies all decided to get their flowers from Silk Blooms, the UK’s largest retailer of high-quality artificial wedding flowers. They all had problems you’re probably experiencing right now, but they’ll tell you how they overcame these issues.
Amber’s Magenta and Blue Silk Flowers
Amber, from the USA, already had her bridesmaids dresses sorted according to her wedding colour theme of magenta and royal blue; the tricky part was finding flowers that would match these colours exactly. It’s notoriously difficult to find fresh blue flowers, unless they’re bluebells or forget-me-nots. Silk flowers can be made in any colour, though, but that wasn’t her only reason for choosing them.

“I didn’t want something that would mean so much but then just die,” Amber says. “I wanted something that would never lose its meaning and be beautiful forever! After the wedding, we put the flowers on display in our living room. I love seeing the beautiful flowers everyday.”
Michelle’s Greek Flag Coloured Silk Flowers
Michelle had her wedding in Rhodes. She’d always dreamed of having peonies and blue hydrangea in her wedding bouquet, but it wasn’t possible to get these in fresh form at her wedding venue. The colours white and blue also represent the Greek flag; she was adamant on having them mirrored in her flowers. “Plus,” she adds, “our silk flowers were a fraction of the price of fresh flowers, which the wedding planner had offered to provide for us.”

Everyone at her wedding had a hard time believing the flowers weren’t real.“The morning after the wedding while we were at breakfast, the maid had been in to clean our room. When we returned later, I noticed she had put my bouquet in a vase of water — she thought they were real!”

Jo’s Up themed Wedding in Florida
Jo had a last-minute wedding ceremony in Disney World, Florida. Her theme: Up, the Disney/Pixar film about an adorably grumpy old man going on the adventure of a lifetime.“I chose silk flowers as I wanted to have them forever. My flowers are currently in the loft, I am planning on showing them in a deep frame with other elements from the day to display in our home.”

Chantelle’s Cyprus Wedding
Like Jo, Chantelle Ford was travelling abroad for her wedding: “As I was getting married out in Cyprus I really wanted to take my own rather than have fresh flowers out there as I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to matching up colours and schemes. I also have a locket with a picture of my gran in it; she passed away last year so I wanted her to be a part of my wedding.”

As you can tell, silk flowers are a no-brainer for destination weddings! Chantelle, Jo and Michelle all bubble-wrapped their flowers and put them in suitcases. The flowers arrived intact, as beautiful as ever. Nicola, who also got married in Cyprus, adds a final nugget of advice: “The flowers lasted all day unlike real flowers, which would wilt in the Cypriot heat. It also helped me to relax and gave me piece of mind knowing I had flowers that matched my colour theme and bridesmaid dresses perfectly.”

A big thanks to these ladies for sharing their wedding stories!
