Summer has and will always be the most popular time of year to get married. It’s easy to see why: the warmer and longer days mean you can celebrate your nuptials long into the night. With summer just around the corner, we share our favourite summer wedding ideas from our past brides.
Bridal Summer Accessories
When it comes to accessories no summer bride is complete without some flowers, and that’s exactly what our brides did. Laura created a beautiful floral headpiece using roses and the English countryside favourite, baby’s breathe. But when it comes to adding flowers to your accessories you don’t always have to go for the real thing. Caroline wore floral printed shoes under her dress to give her that summer look.
We all know British summers are unpredictable so you will need to be prepared. Using a lace parasol for moments when the sun is beaming, or an umbrella for then the skies open up, is perfect for keeping you looking amazing all day and makes a wonderful photo opportunity.
Summer Wedding Transport
When it comes to your transport, give it an old English twist with a Victorian horse and carriage. Be at one with nature and make your way to your ceremony basking in the sun.
Outdoor Summer Wedding Ceremony
If the British weather permits it, have your wedding ceremony outside. The key to many outdoor ceremonies is to keep it simple: don’t over do it with your decor, and let the sun and nature work its magic. We love how our bride used small arrangements using baby’s breath and mason jars along the aisle.
Summer Refreshment
This summer, serve your guests lashings of your favourite summer cocktails in mason jars or small vases. Our creative bride used coloured straws and twine to complete the look.
Homely Food
When it comes to your summer wedding breakfast, don’t be afraid to be a little informal. Serve the food as you would at a family meal, place everything in the centre of the tables and let your guests help themselves. Your guests will love the experience.
Summer Dancing Shoes
To save your weddings guests the pain of sore feet, supply them all with their very own summer dancing shoes. For example, place colourful flip flops by the dance floor in cute wicker baskets; not only will your guests feet feel great but they’ll also have a unique wedding keepsake.
Summer Wedding Decor
Summer wedding decor is simple, make it fun, colourful and add a touch of nature. Bunting and floral garlands are a must-have for a summer wedding, you can decorate everything from walls, poles, the ceiling and even the back of chairs, just like our bride did for her summer marquee wedding. Also, try and incorporate element of nature in your design, like birdcages, colourful wild flowers and log slices.
