It’s very modern and, for some couples, a much better idea than the debauched ‘last night of freedom’. Here’s how to organise a successful joint hen and stag (that’s ‘sten’ not hag!) do that everyone will love.
Not just a passing trend, ‘sten’ parties are on the rise, and it’s a great way of getting everyone to get to know each other before the wedding.
Joint Hen and Stag Ideas
The real key to planning a successful joint stag and hen do is to make it appeal to everyone, which of course, can be a tall order the more people you invite, but it is possible. Get everyone together in a hired cottage for the weekend or go camping, somewhere you can all relax and just eat, drink, walk to the local country pub or play some music and dance late into the night. You can organise group activities such as:
- Paintballing
- Sailing
- Go-Karting
- Quad biking
- Laser Tag
- It’s a Knockout
- Boat party
- Comedy club night
- Party bus
- Murder mystery night
- Fancy dress party
- Marryoke – recording a pop song and creating a music video to play at the wedding
Have Two Parties in One
If you both want to party together, but also with your friends, then consider going away as a large group and then splitting into 2 parties who do their own thing in the daytime and then get together in the evening. This is the best of both worlds and can work very well if you have two very different types of people all together for the weekend.
Plan it Well in Advance
With friends and family travelling from different ends of the country it can be difficult to agree on a date and location that will suit everyone. So the earlier you start planning, the better. Plan it by group email and pick a date that the majority of people can do. There will always be people who can’t make it for one reason or another but set a date and stick to it, then ensure everyone knows up front how much they need to pay and when to pay it by.
Personalised Shot Glasses are the Ideal Keepsake
Willy straws and lapdances are not really the order of the day at a joint stag and hen do but personalised shot glasses could be just the thing to surprise the bride and groom with, get everyone in the mood and they’re a great keepsake to send everyone home with.
