Blush wedding dresses were huge for 2011 and continue to be the alternative bridal colour of choice for Spring/Summer 2012 collections. Confetti’s Karen Birney picks 10 of her favourite styles…
Ever since Reese Witherspoon sailed down the aisle in her deliciously blush, A-line, Chantilly lace Monique Lhuillier gown in March last year, we’ve had a love affair with blush shade wedding dresses.
This look is all about femininity and light, so lace, ruffles, floral accents or bows are the way to go when it comes to embellishments.
If you’d love to go for a blush colour but find it a little too alternative for your wedding, try an ivory shade, with a blush belt to bring out a pink hue.

A-line gowns with ruffle skirts or embellishments are perfect for taller women with a smaller chest. Keep accessories to a minimum with these dresses however, the last thing you want is to look like a cupcake decoration! A sheer veil and simple hairdo will work perfectly. Stay away from ringlets or wavy hair if you are wearing it loose, think light and soft with plenty of movement.

Blush and ivory shades adapt best to 50s style wedding dresses. This style is great for women with curves, as you can use a darker shade of blush belt to show off a small waist. The kicked-out, tea-length skirt will look the height of femininity in a blush hue, and shoes in an off-white or ivory will finish the look off beautifully. If you’re feeling a little more daring however, go for duck egg shade shoes – they can even double as your ‘something blue’.

You don’t have to go for A-line with a blush or ivory dress however, sheath skirts also work with this hue if you want a more understated look overall. Subtle embellishments give the gown depth and glamour.
