Ever wondered what the most popular wedding dress style is? New research has shown the biggest wedding trends of the year so far, including the most popular wedding dress styles for brides.
Analysis of Google search data reveals that ‘princess wedding dresses’ are currently the most Googled type of wedding dress, following the weddings of celebrities such as Lady Kitty Spencer, Lily Collins, Issa Rae, and of course, Meghan Markle.
The research, by creative resource Design Bundles, reveals that ‘Princess’ wedding gowns are more popular than any other style of wedding dress, pulling in 19,000 searches a month.
Online interest in princess-style wedding gowns swelled to five times its average volume on the 5th September 2021 – the day after Lily Collins married Charlie McDowell in a long, fairy-tale gown with a sweeping hood.
Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson for Design Bundles said:”Princess wedding gowns have an eternal role to play wedding tradition – from the bold and dramatic to the timeless and elegant, these dresses are never far from our hearts and minds when we picture marriage ceremonies. It’s especially exciting to see these dresses, which speak so much of opulence, grandeur and joy – make a comeback after a long spell of lockdown restrictions”
This comes after Meghan Markle’s wedding dress was crowned the most popular royal wedding dress in the world. There were 51,000 Google searches a month, making her dress the most searched-for Royal dress of 2021.
Speaking about the data, a spokesperson for Casino Bee, said: “Meghan Markle has been a fashion icon since she was catapulted onto the world stage when news broke of her romance with Prince Harry in 2016. The enduring popularity of her wedding dress, despite the wedding taking place almost five years ago, is a testament to the Duchess’ effortlessly elegant and timeless style. Despite leaving her official role as a working role, this study highlights her unwavering ability to keep the world’s attention on her, not only through her actions but also through her iconic style.”
