The Great British High Street is celebrated for all the right reasons – great choice and good value, so it makes sense that when many of us are feeling the pinch, buying your wedding dress ‘off the peg’ is becoming increasingly common.
All bridal dresses by Monsoon
Styles vary, from traditionally cut princess style gowns in silks and satins, to elegant column dresses and intricately embellished styles. Stores like BHS and Monsoon offer a fabulous choice, but you will need to check that your local store stocks the bridal collection as the ranges can be limited to larger stores. Littlewoods is also a great bridal retailer with some lovely up-to-the-minute styles. Buying online can be another convenient option with stores like these. However you choose to shop, it’s always prudent (and a lot more fun!) to try before you buy, whether in-store or in the comfort of your own home.
All your bridal attire in one place
The other thing that’s great about the high street is the option to shop for the whole bridal party in one place. While we’re thankfully not quite at the stage of shopping for wedding dresses with oranges and washing powder at the local supermarket, department stores like Debenhams and BHS offer such a fabulous collection of bridesmaid and pageboy outfits that it’s a pleasure to shop for everyone and really co-ordinate everything. Don’t forget the details! From cute shrugs to chic bags and shoes, and sparkly jewellery to sheer veils, there are some gorgeous finds out there. Check out the beautiful tiaras at Littlewoods for a steal, and don’t forget all those little details like bridal hosiery and lingerie for a complete look.
Size matters
Sizing is key, too. The newest collection from Debenhams offers a fabulous size range in many styles from a teeny size 6 all the way through to a bootylicious 20 – see the dreamy Debut collection for a fantastic range of styles from ruffled baby dolls to beautiful beaded styles.
