The Maldives
Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, his actress wife, spent their honeymoon cruising around the many islands of the Maldives on a luxury yacht and even dined at an exclusive underwater restaurant on Rangali Island. Black-Eyed Peas singer Fergie and Josh Duhamel also chose the Maldives, staying at a luxury hotel, complete with private butler, which is reported to have cost over £10,000 a week!
The Seychelles
Ten whole years ago now, Film and TV stars Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston honeymooned in the beautiful Seychelles, booking the entire Fregate Island, a luxury resort that holds up to 40 guests. I’m guessing that he didn’t take Angelina there for their honeymoon after he married her within months of divorcing. The next stars to honeymoon on the island were the equally ill-fated Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills… You’d think it was jinxed if Liz Hurely and Arun Nayer hadn’t just celebrated their anniversary after honeymooning there some years ago!
Top tip: Go island hopping. There’s so much beauty to see, you won’t want to miss a thing.
Barbados
Golf champion Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren married at a sunset ceremony in Barbados, their first night being spent on a rented multi-million dollar yacht aptly named Privacy. The couple has recently been the subject of much press speculation after Woods admitted to a series of affairs. Super model and ex-Mrs Gere, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, an entrepreneur and nightclub impresario, married in a barefoot beach ceremony and also honeymooned on the island in 1998.
Top Tip: There’s no residency law so you could get married out there and still spend a further 2 or 3 weeks on honeymoon.
Fiji
Actress, singer, diva Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, the actor composer and singer, honeymooned here. According to reports, reality TV stars Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey spent a less than romantic honeymoon in Fiji’s Turtle Island, apparently surrounded by ‘flying roaches’ and warned Britney Spears and Kevin Federline not to go there for theirs. They went anyway as the pair were more concerned with the ‘no fly’ zone on the remote island which can only be reached by boat. Flying roaches are clearly more palatable than paparazzi when you’re that famous!

Phuket, Thailand
Gay icon Liza Minneli and David Gest spent their honeymoon at the romantic luxury resort of Amanpuri in Phuket, Thailand. Sadly this unusual couple’s marriage lasted just a matter of months and it seems quite ironic that a couple with such a turbulent relationship could have chosen a resort which literally translates to mean ‘place of peace’.

Caribbean
£120,000-a-week Liverpool Football star Steven Gerrard and Alex Curran, his now equally famous WAG spent their sunny honeymoon in the Caribbean. According to the Daily Mirror the honeymoon cost a whopping £900,000! Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and Tony Parker, the American basketball star also honeymooned on a Caribbean island – Parrot Cay Island – the same isle where Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were also wed.
Top Tip: You can expect highs of 87 degrees in August.
Bora Bora
Oscar winner Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, her musician hubby, flew to this exotic South Pacific island after their wedding in Sydney. They stayed at the Hilton’s Nui Resort and Spa, a luxury hotel built at the foot of a volcano! American actress Christina Applegate and Johnathon Schaech also honeymooned here.
Santa Barbara, USA
Film star Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay, stayed at a ranch here, famous among celebs as being a romantic hideaway. The ranch also played host to the late John F. Kennedy and Jackie Onassis who honeymooned there in the 60s.
Fab fact: Santa Barbara is within 120 miles of Universal Studios, Disneyland and Hollywood.
Mexico
Model Heidi Klum and Seal, singer and musician, are probably the most romantic couple ever since they took to renewing their vows every year! Seal apparently proposal in an igloo on top of a glacier. The couple chose to jet of somewhere warmer for their honeymoon.
Fab fact: People have been living in Mexico for 2000 years so there is a wealth of history and culture to see.
Ireland
SATC star, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick broke with exotic-far-flung-island-tradition by honeymooning in The Mount Errigal Hotel in County Donegal, Ireland. An unusual choice after an usual wedding in which Parker wore a controversial black wedding dress. Broderick had, by all accounts, wanted to celebrate his Irish roots.
