Alex and Audrey’s real wedding is everything an intimate London wedding should be, sincere, simple, emotional and uber chic. With their love for one another shining as bright as the sun did on their roof top terrace wedding ceremony; this is the perfect wedding inspiration for anyone looking to celebrate their love without compromising their personality or style.
The Proposal
We both secretly came up with the same idea to propose to each other at exactly the same time on our second anniversary. We worked on two totally different plans, then at some point I found out what Audrey was up to and we had to come clean to one another. We ended up designing the rings together and going for a romantic trip to Barcelona.
The Wedding Attire
We both wore blue suits and white shirts with different accessories – Alex had blue braces and tie, Audrey wore yellow bow tie and yellow braces. The suits were supposed to be made especially for us, but the tailors did a horrible job so we ended up buying our outfits from Esprit and Uniqlo. Audrey’s best friend did our make-up and hair. We usually don’t wear make-up, so we asked for it to be subtle. The hair style was minimalistic as well.
The Ceremony and Reception
Both the ceremony and reception took part at Perseverance Works venue. We loved the fact that the venue was all white and there were no decorations or furniture or other unnecessary distractions. It was a white canvas. It also had a roof terrace with the views over Shoreditch, and we always dreamed of getting married in open air. The most touching moment for us was the ceremony itself and especially the vows. Audrey couldn’t stop crying The whole wedding was one happy day, we didn’t want it to end. It was very simple and intimate, without any pretention. It was the best day of our lives and our guests felt the love in the air too.
The Wedding Decor
We had flowers in the dining area and festoon lights, flowers, balloons and candles in the ceremony area which later was converted to a lounge. We went to New Covent Garden Flower Market a day before and bought a few boxes of yellow gerberas and white gypsophila branches, our friends arranged them on the day.
The Photographer
We chose Paola from Paola de Paola Photography for both our engagement and wedding, because she had already covered a few same-sex weddings and the pictures looked unique compared to other photographers that we came across online. We loved her style, the moments and emotions captured in the pictures and we also clicked on the personal level straight away. Paola was very friendly, understanding and professional, so we would definitely recommend her to everyone!
The Food
The catering was organised by our lovely Italian chef Nancy Vollaro. We had canapés and cocktails, followed by soup and mains, everything was prepared to perfection.
Wedding Advice
Our advice would be to have a summer wedding , nothing beats the sunshine and blue skies. Prepare yourself for massive bills, weddings are not cheap, no matter how simple you try to make it.
