They made a great first impression on each other when they first met – and 10 years later Clare had to try on over 100 dresses before she found the one! They tied the knot in a laid-back and friendly small ceremony with family and friends right beside the seaside. The memories of the happy day were perfectly captured by Mark at Evolve Photography.

We met… 10 years ago when we were working at the same advertising agency in Sheffield.
First impressions of your husband… we first made an impression on each other at a work’s team building outdoor pursuits weekend in Wales. There were two prizes awarded – Adam received one for achievement after saving a girl from falling off a rock face, and I received one for ‘effort’ after a day spent trying not to get my feet wet. Adam was comically serious at work, full of interests and information, and enthusiasm for everything he got involved in.
His first impressions of you… Clare was laid back, fun and very easy to get along with.
What was your proposal? A picnic at the Minnewater (Lake of Love) in Bruges, Belgium with champagne and deli sandwiches.
What was your dress like? Fauvette by Cymbeline. I wanted a dress I could have fun in and after trying on around 100 frocks I saw this one in a trunk show advertisement from The White Room in Sheffield. I went along with my mum, tried it on and we paid the deposit the same day. The slanted neckline, fitted laced bodice and tulle frothy skirt scattered with satin bows won me over. It’s very lightweight and has an underneath skirt which I took off for the evening to make it shorter for dancing.
How did Confetti.co.uk help in your big day? It provided inspiration and a point for finding resources, particularly helpful in early planning stages.
We chose our venue because… we love Cornwall, and Watergate Bay has been our favourite spot for a mini-break for many years.
Who were your bridesmaids/groomsmen? Bridesmaids were my 3 pals, Joanne, Anna and Kirsty. The best man was Adam’s best friend’s Dan (best man), and Simon and Mike (ushers)
What was your ceremony like? Informal, relaxed and short, with a fantastic view of the sea. Vows were brief and Simon read I Rely On You, a funny short poem by Hovis Presley.
What were your wedding theme/colours? Bright seaside/candy colours – pinks, greens and blues!
What was your favourite part of the wedding? We enjoyed every minute. The meal at Fifteen stands out as does everyone dancing and having fun at the party.
What was the song for the first dance? You’re All I Need To Get By by Mark Ronson
What is your advice for other brides? Think about how you’d like to spend your favourite day and then create it for you and your guests to enjoy. Relax, don’t over plan or over worry, don’t get tied up in timings and detail. Brief suppliers early – in writing and verbally. Double check everything the week before and then sit back and enjoy the ride. Once the day starts just let it roll out, it’s no longer your problem, everyone knows what they’re doing, there’s nothing left for you to do but enjoy it.
