Our talented friends over at Sonho a Dois Algarve have done it again! They helped Helen and Paul bring their dream wedding to life. The vintage themed affair looks glorious in the sun; we love everything from the beautiful vintage inspired bridesmaids’ dresses to the quaint pink and ivory vintage wedding decor including some very cute rabbits. Bride and Groom… Helen and Paul
Wedding date… Monday 3rd June 2013
We met… At a fancy dress party, but we didn’t start dating for a long time after that.
The proposal… Paul proposed at home, I arrived back from work and Paul had a treasure hunt organised around the house each clue was a poem he had written which lead to a present. The final one was Paul on one knee with a beautiful ring
I knew she was ‘the one’… I knew within a matter of weeks everything was so relaxed fun and comfortable. I felt very lucky.
Length of engagement… 8 months
How did Confetti.co.uk help in your big day? They were a great source of ideas
My dress was… From House of Fraser, I had tried on many dresses all of which were lovely but I just wanted something simple and light. I knew it was going to be hot and didn’t want to be uncomfortable on the day. I knew as soon as I tried it on it was the one, it just felt right. I bought the short dress online, which I changed into in the evening. I really loved having the two dresses as they were both so different.
Our wedding ceremony was… A Roman catholic ceremony with 72 guests. Pauls’ father sang as I walked down the aisle.
Our wedding photographer was… Yes I do! Algarve Wedding Photography
Our wedding reception… Was in a private villa in Vilamoura, we had an outdoor dinner and drinks reception. It was what best suited our vision of our relaxed and casual sunny wedding.
Our wedding theme was… Vintage with pale pinks, peaches and creams
Our first dance was… To Diamonds by Rihanna
Our wedding was unique and special because… Being Irish having beautiful weather and dining outdoors was unique and guaranteed a relaxed atmosphere. Also the ice cream cart after the church and fireworks for cutting the cake were special touches.
Our favourite part of the wedding was… Helen: The whole ceremony and particularly exchanging our own vows. Paul: I loved the whole day but getting the first laugh during my speech really settled me down.
What is your advice for other brides? All we can advise that if you plan on getting married in the Algarve Sonho a Dois planners are a must.
Our honeymoon was… A week in Vilamoura after the weeding with our guests and then a cruise around the Mediterranean. It was perfect.
