We’re excited to share this week’s real 1920’s inspired wedding. From the stunning wedding decor, to bridesmaids in red flapper dresses and draped in pearls to our beautiful bride in her stunning Pronovias wedding dress; this is one wedding even Great Gatsby himself would have wanted to attend. Enjoy.
Bride and Groom… Shasha & James
Wedding date… Saturday 10th August 2013
The proposal… James proposed on Brooklyn Bridge in NY
My dress… Was a Pronovias A-line dress with beautiful subtle lace details. I saw their adverts in the magazine and really like their elegant styles. I knew I wanted an A-line shape so I started searching for a design that would match. I tried on probably about 10 dresses before I found the one which is also a proper Pronovias one. The bridal shop I went to in Stony Stradford, an old village in Milton Keynes, is the only shop that sells Pronovias ranges. My two bridesmaids and my mother-in-law went with me, and luckily, she paid for it too! Nobody cried, but it was like love on the first sight, and I did get a little bit emotional. I wore a Ted Baker white shawl made of ostrich feathers; a set of vintage pearl necklace and earrings I bought on eBay. White feather and rhinestone hair clip from Accessorize and a silver vintage style clutch I bought on Light in the Box.
Our wedding ceremony was held at… St Marys Church, Bletchley. An intimate crowd with close family and friends, around 60 people only for the day. It was a traditional church wedding. Most memorable moment was when I walked in, the anticipation was over, and everyone was stunned by my beauty.
Our favourite part of the wedding was… The moment I walked into the church when all the emotion flooded in and everyone seemed in awe with my look.
Our wedding reception was held at… Bletchley Park. We chose it because it is of great historical significance, the Enigma, the code-breakers, Alan Turing. Also, we were the very last wedding ever held there before they stopped doing events to protect the national heritage.
My two bridesmaids wore… Short drop-waist red dress. Because the colour and the style fit with the theme.
Our wedding photographer was… Debbie Simister, Momentous Photography Ltd
Our wedding theme was… 1920s Great Gatsby with gold and red.
Our wedding cake was… Three tiers with flowers dripping down all the way from the top. Figures of the bride and groom with bounties on top.
Our wedding was unique and special because… The venue, the music selection, the vintage style and the effort put into the details.
Our first dance was… The end credits to The Shining – Midnight and the stars, and you. (Al Bowlly)
What is your advice for other brides? Go with what you want, don’t let other people make decisions for you.
Our honeymoon was… China, and for wedding no.2. Yes definitely recommend.
