Six Essential Bridal Makeup Dos and Don’ts
Do Prepare the Skin
Although your wedding makeup is one of the last things you have to do this does not mean that you can leave it to the last minute. Preparation is key for getting the perfect wedding makeup. Set yourself a skin regimen at least three weeks before your big day and make sure you stick to it. Clean your face twice a day and get into the habit of cleansing, toning and moisturising.

Do Get a Makeup Trial or Two
You know the saying practice makes perfect. This is the golden rule when it comes to your wedding makeup. A makeup trial will give you the opportunity to play around with a few looks before you settle on the one that’s right for you. Go with a makeup artist you know and trust.
Check out their portfolio, chances are they probably have an Instagram account with all the looks they have created so start there. Wedding makeup can take between 30 – 45 minutes to apply so another reason for a makeup trial is to confirm this so you can work it into the planning of the day.
Try and plan your makeup trial the same day as your hen do that way you can make the most of the trial and you will also be able to see how long it will last on you.
Do Stick to the Look That’s Truest to You.
If you are a natural beauty stay that way. Don’t plaster your face with makeup that you don’t usually wear. Stick to individual eyelashes that have a subtler look. Remain true to yourself, after all your partner loves you for you so don’t go changing your look too much.
Don’t Go for Anything That’s on Trend.
Trends don’t last forever remember that so try not to jump on the bandwagon. Choose a classic look that will never date. Nobody wants to look back at their wedding photographs and see some crazy trend that went out of date ages ago.
Don’t Let the Makeup Artist Take Over
Although the makeup artist is the expert and can offer some good advice, don’t let them completely take over. After all you know your face more than anyone so you will know what makes you comfortable.
Don’t Go OTT with Self-Tan
If you are deciding to wear fake tan on your wedding day remember that a white dress will make it look darker. It’s important to also have a self-tan trial and apply at least 48 hours before the big day. If you want more advice see how to self-tan for your wedding & still wear a white dress.
