Dating back to the 15th century, Ackergill Tower is now a five-star hotel with stunning sea views. Discover the castle with all the 21st century luxuries you could wish for; even a lavishly furnished treehouse in its grounds; and find out how it won ‘Wedding Venue of the Year’.
Scottish Highlands Location
Set alongside seven miles of private beach in the beautiful Scottish Highlands, Ackergill Tower may be remote but it’s also easily accessible. The grand 3,000 acre private estate includes a heart-shaped garden, sundial lawn and walled garden. It’s a beautiful contrast to the rugged coastline and seven glorious miles of private beach the tower overlooks.
Local activities include speedboat rides, archery, clay pigeon shooting and fishing adventures in the private loch and bothy. You could also look out for local wildlife, from birds of prey to otters and seals. The views are quite simply breath-taking.
Function Rooms
Award-winning service and a choice of 12 distinctive function rooms mean this venue has something for everyone whether you’re having a small, intimate wedding or a grand celebration for up to 200 guests. Your guests will marvel at the high-beamed ceilings and impressive grandeur of the Great Hall, the rustic rafters of Sinclair Palace and the more intimate Smuggler’s Inn.
Ackergill Tower is famous for its fine dining and offers a choice of set or tailor-made menus. The stunning sea views and the splendour of the formal gardens provide an impressive backdrop for your everlasting wedding photographs.
The Treehouse
In the castle grounds there is a wonderful treehouse, carved into a secluded 150-year old sycamore tree. A haven of peace and tranquility with 180 degree views of the surrounding woodland. Luxuriously furnished, warm and comfortable, the treehouse features a large circular bath and sumptuous 7ft round bed with a glass ceiling above, from where you can gaze up at the stars shining through the branches. At certain times of the year you can even drift off to sleep as the remarkable northern lights dance in the night sky above you.
Exclusive-Use Venue
You can have the castle and formal grounds entirely to yourself and leave behind the outside world for the duration of your wedding. Let your imagination run wild and leave the rest to the wedding planners at the venue who will help you with every tiny last detail right through to your choice of finishing touches.
Luxury Bedrooms
The 34 luxury bedrooms, many with a sea view, are all complemented by antique furniture and en-suite bathrooms. You could even spend the night in a stunning four poster bed. There are also six secluded luxury self-catering cottages in the grounds of the extensive 3,000 acre private estate.
