Clearwell Castle is set in the beautiful Forest of Dean and plays host exclusively to weddings. Each couple gets the castle of their dreams all to themselves for their special day. Laura Vodden tells us why Clearwell Castle Weddings have everything you need, from roaring log fires and crystal chandeliers to the vaulted cellar bar and four-poster beds. This is the fairy tale castle of your dreams. And it’s real.
As you arrive at the Castle you are kept in suspense all the way up the driveway. The portcullis looms ahead but the actual Castle is hidden from view. You drive underneath the portcullis and there is the fabulous Clearwell Castle, and it actually takes your breath away. Your family and friends will be wowed by the sheer size and scale of it. This is what you call a first impression!
Glittering Crystal Chandeliers
There are many beautiful yet comfortable reception rooms for guests to enjoy. The main hall offers a roaring log fire and glittering crystal chandelier. The drawing room has a baby grand piano which guests are welcome to use. The library does not offer any books but instead comfortable arm chairs and an enormous dining table for props. The cocktail bar serves up a treat during the day and is extremely well stocked to cater for all tastes.
Clearwell Castle Weddings
The ballroom is a magical setting for a ceremony. The aisle is 75 feet long and so the bride really does make an entrance. The raised Dias at the end of the aisle offers a framed setting for the ceremony and the large leaded windows allow the light to pour in. Alternatively, St Peter’s Church in the village is a picturesque setting for a church wedding.
There is a team of in-house chefs at the castle allowing the food quality to be guaranteed at every wedding. The menu is vast but even then a more bespoke menu can be created. Three courses come as standard but soup, fish, sorbet and cheese can all be added if desired.
Vaulted Cellar Bar
The vaulted cellar bar really sets the scene when it comes to the evening reception. Clever lighting and a brand new white starlit dance floor gets everyone in the mood! The DJ will work to a playlist or take guest requests on the night. The buffet menu is also large and there are plenty of options.
The ground floor also houses a dedicated children’s room with games and toys and also a quiet room for more mature guests to relax in peace and quiet!
Four-poster Beds
Luxury accommodation awaits weary heads at the end of the night. The castle can now sleep up to 93 guests overnight with the addition of the Clear Well, a hotel in the village purchased and refurbished this year to provide additional guest accommodation.
