About Barbara Asboth Photography
Combining a slightly film-like, documentary approach with an eye for interesting or unusual compositions, my work is ideal for clients who want a natural and unposed series from their day.
I mostly shoot documentary - unposed, real interactions between guests. My style really shines when I leave guests alone to just enjoy the party without asking them to pose for me. Past clients have often mentioned how great it was that I was like a casual, friendly guest, yet all their special moments were captured!
The only time I will guide you slightly is during a short time to grab some portraits of just you two - usually after everyone's had a chance to grab a few drinks and relax. If we're outside and the weather is good then we can do this around sunset to get the most flattering light, but I also happily improvise to make use of interiors, sparkler light and anything else we have available. I'm a very experienced portrait photographer so this is my favourite part. I've been a professional photographer for nearly ten years, and I enjoy shooting a variety of genres you see. What ties it all together is my love of capturing people in ways they may not have seen themselves ever before.
I've lived in five countries so far, and have learned three foreign languages; my experiences of observing and connecting with new people and environments put me in the perfect position to approach all clients with respect, understanding and empathy.
I've photographed hundreds (or maybe thousands, at this point) of people, including campaigns for Sony PlayStation; my work has been exhibited globally including in the UK Houses of Parliament and Galerie Joseph Le Marais in Paris; my book, Faces of Shoreditch, has been published by Amberley Books; and I have been featured in FUJILOVE magazine, Digital Photographer magazine, and the Hackney Gazette.
My goal is to help everyone realise the importance of photographs as precious memories and art for the long term, not just for ourselves but for our children and extended family.
I'm based in Oxfordshire, and cover the Cotswolds, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, London and beyond.
To make you the most comfortable during your day with me around, I need to get to know you a little bit, how you met, what you're planning and what kind of couple you are, so that's why the pre-consultation is so important when you contact me. Above all, the goal is for you to have fun with me, because the best photos will come if we both like each other's vibe. If you like the vibe of this page, for example, we're off to a good start so click that Contact button and let's talk! :-)

Meet the Key Person
Hi! First of all, congratulations - you're in for the time of your life! And I'm not just talking about the wedding, but marriage itself, your whole life together. Your wedding will be a beautiful celebration of what's yet to come, and that's why each wedding is unique; I can never get bored of seeing LOVE. On this special day, it's super important to find a photographer you click with, and are comfortable around. Trust your gut on this one, and don't go for just the cheapest or most convenient locally. I want to be like a casual friend at your wedding, who you are at ease with instead of clamming up at the thought of "oh no, photos"! Do have a browse of my website and see if that could be me. If it is, let's chat! :)
