Bickleigh Castle is a Grade 1 Listed 11th Century wedding venue in Devon, which has been home to centuries of Knights, Baronets, Ladies and Earls, and visited by Kings & Queens across the ages.

The Castle nestles warmly in a secluded valley in the glorious Devon countryside. With the babbling water of the River Exe meandering its way past the Castle gates and breezes rustling the leaves of the encircling woods, arriving at this fairy tale setting is like stepping into a hamlet lost in time.

If you are seeking a romantic, intimate and unusual wedding venue, Bickleigh Castle is ideal and has several adaptable spaces both inside and out depending on your requirements, including 18 bedrooms.  The piece de resistance is the Bridal Suite boasting an impressive carved Tudor four-poster bed.

The recently renovated Great Hall is licensed for both civil wedding and partnership ceremonies and has a fully accessible Tudor paneled minstrels’ gallery.

If you wish to have a blessing there is a quintessentially beautiful Chapel set within a walled rose garden, the origins of which date back to the 6th Century.  

For those wanting a traditional ceremony, there is a church near by which is within easy reach of the castle if you want a horse and carriage, or you can hire the two classic Rolls-Royces owned by the Castle. The banqueting room is usually the preferred choice for the wedding breakfast and seats up to 120 guests, whilst the Orangery Mews and bar are perfect for evening celebrations.  Alternatively there are several places suitable for a marquee of any size within the Castle’s gardens should you require more space.

All food is sourced locally through tried and tested suppliers and prepared by our in-house chef, Scott.  However, if you are opting for a totally self-arranged wedding, you are of course welcome to have use of our 5 star commercial kitchens and bring in your own caterers. 

The Castle is available for exclusive use and they have a full time wedding planner on site to help you as much or as little as you wish.
