About Chypraze Farm
A rustic barn with stunning sea views in the Cornish countryside on a working farm with its own butchery and beach
A Brief History of the Company
One day in 2004, a couple walked into the yard and asked if they could get married in the dilapidated and neglected former dairy barn, in which cos used to be housed, fed and milked over the winter period. This gave us the idea that we should have thought of years before, and we set to and restored the barn into its original 1895, line pointed granite walls and slated roof form.
We are now in our third year of business and are heading towards our 45th wedding. We have recently had restroom facilities built and will install a heating system so the barn can be used for events all the year round.
A Brief History of the Farm
Chypraze farm has belonged in the Flindall family for 4 generations and was originally a dairy farm. However, we now rear saddleback pigs and a small beef herd of Highlanders and Hereford cattle. We also have our own butchery and sell our meat at local farmers markets in Penzance, St. Erth, Truro, Falmouth and Pendeen.
Our Green Credentials
To improve our sustainability and reduce our demand for fossil and nuclear fuels, we have installed a 5 KW Evance wind turbine, 4 KW solar panels, a ground source heat pump to provide heating and hot water. We also use an electric car which is used as a farm vehicle to feed livestock and carry bails to the fields as well as providing transport to the local farmers markets. Our next renewable energy project is to install hydro-energy from the stream which tumbles 300ft to the sea. This will be used to provide electricity to our future accommodation for guests as well as the wedding barn.
