About Cornichon
Cornichon is a bar and bistro in Tarvin, Cheshire, about 4 miles from Chester, run by husband and wife Ben and Lisa, along with friend Jamie – who all relocated from Nottingham to open the restaurant in September 2015. The Gunnery is a Grade-II listed Georgian building that was once a family run corn merchants and grocers, the original shop fittings & one of the shop counters are still intact.
Our menu is devised from what is in season & inspired by what we love to eat. We make everything we can in house, including our ice creams, sourdough bread & burger buns, bacon, black pudding. We source our coffee through Adams & Russell, a small batch coffee roaster based in Birkenhead. Our meat is from Farmer’s Meats http://farmersmeats.co.uk/ in Chester, our real ale is from Weetwood http://www.weetwoodales.co.uk/ & our frequently changing draught beers are usually from Wild Horse http://www.wildhorsebrewing.co.uk/ in Llandudno, Loka Polly http://www.lokapolly.co.uk/ in Mold & Mad Hatter http://madhatterbrewing.co.uk/ in Liverpool.
Alongside our main menu we run a set menu every lunch time & evening we’re open, which is available all night on a Tuesday & until 6.45pm the rest of the week. We have a specials board which is constantly changing and tend to run quite a few specials at the weekend.
We received the award of “Best Newcomer” at the Taste Cheshire Food and Drink Awards 2016, and in 2017 we went home with a silver award in the ‘Best Small Restaurant’ category.
