Housed in the beautiful Victorian North Road railway station Head of Steam offers a unique setting for your special day. Built in 1842 and designed by Stockton and Darlington architect John Harris, the station houses some of the region’s most famous locomotives, including Locomotion No 1 and Derwent. Suitable for intimate ceremonies the museum can offer four locations within the building for your ceremony, including the platforms, the external plaza and the conference room. With our atmospheric Booking Office and luggage lined platforms there will be plenty of opportunities to take some memorable photographs of your special day.

Make your grand entrance across the footbridge when you hold your ceremony on the North Platform. With a seating capacity of twenty seated and twenty standing this location is ideal for smaller weddings.

The South Platform offers a larger space for your ceremony. This area has a capacity of fifty seated and thirty standing.

The Meeting Room offers a private space for your ceremony. This area has a seating capacity of fifty theatre style.

The Platform Plaza offers a versatile space for your ceremony. This area has a capacity of fifty seated and should be considered alongside a wet weather option.
