Greenlands, OxfordshireAbout Henley Business School
Greenlands holds a licence for Civil Wedding Ceremonies and is a wonderfully peaceful and tranquil setting in which to hold your service. Our feature rooms can cater for formal or informal ceremonies for up to 120 guests.
Greenlands has been home to a series of notable families and individuals throughout its lifetime. These include Thomas Chaucer, son of Geoffrey Chaucer; Robert D’Oyley, Sheriff of Oxfordshire in 1573; Bulstrode Whitelock, Oliver Cromwell’s Ambassador to Sweden and most recently WH Smith, who bought the existing house in 1871. Queen Elizabeth I is also known to have visited on more than one occasion, most likely when staying at her royal palace in Reading.
The architecture of the beautiful building reflects the splendour of these bygone days and both the house and picturesque gardens offer a wealth of wonderful photographic settings for your wedding album.
The approach to the beautiful white facade of the Greenlands building, along the sweeping drive through the Greenlands estate, provides a spectacular entrance to your wedding and sets the tone for the remainder of the day.
The thirty acres of well kept parkland and manicured lawns and hedges, running alongside the River Thames, provide unrivalled settings for capturing your day in photographs and video. Whilst the interior of the building itself is beautifully dressed in a traditional style that compliments the grand sweep of the main staircase and decorative pillars.
At Greenlands, you also find all the extras you might expect, from a venue of this calibre, including en-suite accommodation, on-site parking (for up to 200 cars), a well equipped leisure centre, bars, restaurant and private dining rooms.
