About Manor Hall Weddings
The Manor Hall is a large high wood panelled room built in the late Victorian period. Over the years, it has been used for many purposes; village meetings, dances, sports activities, as an army mess/hall during both wars, for wedding parties and most recently as a sculptor’s studio….it’s been ‘all things to all men’.
Having been restored to its original state, it can be used once again as the perfect wedding venue. The hall, with its stage and proscenium arch, will happily seat well over 100 for a civil ceremony and opens onto spacious lawns for marquees and receptions. The Manor itself, tucked away behind a high brick wall, sits in a landscape of parkland, woods and fields stretching as far as the eye can see providing an expansive rural backdrop for your event.
In this idyllic location, you can create a unique occasion. For most of the year, the Manor remains a private house where we live and work; it has been our family home for thirty-five years, but now we would like to open the Hall and grounds for a few weddings each year and invite you to look through what we have to offer.
Clyst Hydon Manor is not a grand house. Its cobbled yard dates back to the C17th when it was the Manor farm. Rev. Huyshe grafted the present building onto the old farm in the 1830s. The house has been carefully restored over the years, but retains the spirit of a bygone age. It has always offered a warm welcome, so if you think it would suit your wedding plans we would be happy to show you round.
