It is a simply delightful, largely unspoilt rural area and is the place to come and treat yourself.  We have a very attractive town which is one of the finest preserved examples of a medieval market town in the UK and is quintessentially English.  Come and experience the relaxed atmosphere, enjoy the passion and the history, the gardens and the museum, there are the remains of a small castle, unique family-run shops, the largest and one of the most beautiful Parish Churches in Essex and all within an outstanding Conservation Area where you can find examples of every style of architecture from the 12th to the 21st century.
