Wedding candy buffets are uber fashionable, but if you like to be different, then instead of the usual sweet cart or table of glass jars filled with multi-coloured sweets, here’s how to present an alternative display in something altogether more eye-catching and unusual.
Stunning decorative and edible Sweet Trees
Seasonal
If you’re getting married at Christmas, Halloween or Easter, you could theme your sweetie buffet accordingly. Easter eggs and bunnies are a lovely addition for a spring wedding while Gothic and orange themes look eye-catching at Halloween. And you can really go to town with a Christmas wedding, displaying traditional red and white striped candy canes alongside tiny gift-wrapped chocolates in red, green and gold. You could hang sweets from a Christmas tree or edible Christmas stockings from a decorative fireplace even.
Personalised
Every wedding is as unique as the couple marrying and it’s lovely to reflect something of your personal style in your wedding. Personalise with your names or style, for instance if you are both bikers then a small model motorbike with a sidecar filled with sweets could be pretty cool. For music lovers, a black leather backdrop with vinyl records and CDs as plates for your confectionery will get your guest’s attention. Plug in an old turn table and have a record of decorative sweets going round and round to create a real talking point.
Retro
Vintage is in and Retro is cool so instead of the vintage Victorian sweet shop style go for a funky multi-coloured 1960s extravaganza of retro sweets displayed in original chocolate boxes and sweetie tins from the era which you can pick up on ebay or at car boot sales. Fill with all your favourites from the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s or ’80s such as Flying Saucers, Dolly Mixtures and Love Heart sweets.
Hot Chocolate Fountains
Cakes and cookies
If you love the look of the sweetie buffet but want to give your guests more choice , mix sweets with mini cakes, cake pops, iced cookies or gingerbread shapes and fresh fruit for a candy buffet with a difference. And a chocolate fountain is the ultimate indulgence.
Wow! Factor
Create a real wow factor with eye-catching sweetie sculptures in your wedding colours, amazing gravity defying displays of confectionery or hanging sweetie chandeliers.
Another way to create a buzz is to make your sweetie buffet interactive with a competition to win a prize for guessing how many sweets are in the filled jars or a Willie Wonka style prize for the guest who finds an elusive golden ticket.
