Dramatic and sophisticated, a black and white wedding is the height of modern fashion. Whether you choose to have a full black-tie dress code or simply a few monochrome table decorations, here’s how to have a black and white wedding that your granny won’t complain looks like a funeral.

Black and white dress code
Your black and white wedding theme begins with what you wear; a white wedding dress against black bridesmaids dresses will be particularly striking. If you want to break up the block colours go for white gowns with a black lace overlay or team black gowns with white fake fur stoles or chiffon wraps.
If the monochrome look is too stark for your liking then add in an accent colour to break it up. Any colour goes with black and white but I love bright or blush pink for weddings as the contrast of the bold black works especially well against the feminine pink. To add interest without adding another colour accessorise with crystals to sparkle and catch the light.
For a formal wedding, add a ‘Black tie’ dress code to your wedding invitations or for a more informal day simply ask your guests to ‘come dressed in black and white’.

Black and White Decor
It’s the simplest colour combination to work with and the most striking. As a general rule of thumb the more white to black ratio you have the more classic your wedding decor will look. The more black to white ratio, the more alternative; for instance white table linens with sleek black vase table centres will give a very different look to black table linens with white centrepieces.
If you overdo the black it could look more like a funeral so aim for a white base with black accessories and you can’t go wrong. Unless you love the Goth look and aspire to dress like Mortitia from the Addams Family in which case embrace your dark side!
Add in a third accent colour, as I mentioned above, such as pink or green, silver or gold here and there for added interest and you have a wedding with serious style.
