Creating your own table centrepieces is the best way to put your personal stamp on your big day. The only rule is to keep them either tall or short enough for your guests to be able to communicate with each other across the table!
Vintage Birdcage Centrepieces
A vintage birdcage makes a pretty statement in the centre of each reception table. Filled with floral blooms to match your bouquets and buttonholes, they add colour, shape and height. Available in a range of shapes, colours and styles, mini bird cages look gorgeous displayed in a line down the centre of long banqueting tables.
Label a large decorative birdcage as a posting box for your gifts table to one side of the reception. This is where your guests can post their wedding cards and well wishes to you both on your big day.
For a simple and still very effective centrepiece to suit all wedding colour schemes, fill medium sized decorative birdcages with gypsophila: the distinctive white floral plant also known as Baby’s-breath.
Filled Vase Centrepieces
Glass vases are the obvious classic choice when it comes to wedding table centrepieces, as they are a lovely, simple way to include more of your chosen wedding flowers. You can have each vase matching or go with a theme, having something a little different about every one to create more interest.
If you want to add your own personal stamp to them then decorate each plain glass vase with your own choice of embellishments, add a white bird to perch on top, or add colour or sparkle to with water pearls, in a variety of colours.
For an alternative centrepiece, fill your vases with colourful fresh fruit instead of cut flowers. By turning vases upside down you create a top onto which you could place a candle or small, leafy trailing plant.
